Howl-O-Ween
The Chalet Nursery & Garden Shop in Wilmette recently hosted their Howl-O-Ween pet parade & costume contest.  One of the costume judges was Heartland Animal Shelter's own Judi Taki!  About 40 dogs paraded in costume!  In addition to prizes for best costumes, everybody received a gift bag from Chalet.  Plus, a portion of the day's proceeds at Chalet's Pet Department were contributed to Heartland Animal Shelter!  THANK YOU, CHALET!!

Low Cost Microchip Clinic

Who:   Heartland Animal Shelter

Where:2975 Milwaukee Avenue, Northbrook, IL  60062  847-296-6400

When:Sunday December 10, 2006 from Noon until 4 pm (no appointment required)                 The clinic is being run on a first come first served basis.

Cost: $15.00 per cat or dog (the cost for registration in PETtrac® is separate).
                 Cash only.

What: AVID Microchip (AND pictures with Santa!)

Why:          "Chipping" your dog helps them find their way home if they become lost,
Plus, you help the animals at Heartland Animal Shelter.

A.V.I.D. stands for American Veterinary Identification Devices. The AVID® microchip is a tiny computer chip which has an identification number programmed into it. The chip is encased in a smooth, strong biocompatible glass, and is small enough to fit into a hypodermic needle. Once an animal is injected with the chip, he can be identified throughout his life by this one-of-a-kind number. His identification cannot be lost, altered or intentionally removed.

Identify Your Animals the Professional Way!  Millions of dogs and cats, horses, livestock and birds now carry the AVID® microchip. Wildlife and endangered species, reptiles and even fish are being studied and managed with the aid of this great technology.
